WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT

Place/structure

The Zohar organizes many explanations through spatial and hierarchical language. Something is within another thing, above or below, in a place or world, on a level or side. These terms often become symbolic, but their ordinary relational meaning remains the starting point. The lesson therefore asks the learner first to draw the relationship described by the words; only the next layer asks what the places or levels represent Kabbalistically.
