WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT
Speaker and quotation reader
The speaker frame is פתח רבי אלעזר ואמר. The quotation is the Hebrew את שבתותי תשמורו from Leviticus 19:30. The Aramaic exposition resumes at תא חזי and continues through a question-and-answer about when each day’s work and force were disclosed. Typography may distinguish the layers, but the language boundary is established by the words themselves.

Close translation — ‘Rabbi Elazar opened and said: “You shall keep My Sabbaths.” Come and see: in six days the Holy One, blessed be He, created the world, and each day disclosed its work and placed its force in that day. When did it disclose its work and place its force? On the fourth day. Because the first three days were all hidden and were not revealed, when the fourth day came it brought forth the work and force of them all.’
