WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT

People, rule, and administration

Court and administrative Aramaic repeats a compact vocabulary. מַלְכָּא is the emphatic singular ‘the king’; מַלְכוּ is ‘kingdom/kingship.’ חַכִּימִין is an absolute plural, while דָתָא is an emphatic feminine noun for law or decree. Ezra adds סָפְרָא, ‘the scribe.’ Meanings remain context-sensitive: שַׁלִּיט describes ruling authority in Daniel 2:10.
