WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT
Weak verbs
Weak roots change their visible shape across forms. From הוה, compare perfect הֲוֵית with imperfect לֶהֱוֵא. From יהב, compare perfect יְהַבְתְּ with participle יָהֵב. The lesson deliberately limits itself to attested forms. It does not fill unobserved cells by analogy and present them as source text.

Source-specific guidance from the curriculum.
Learning objective
Track weak roots across attested forms without inventing a complete paradigm from a single occurrence.
Morphology and syntax
OSHB independently identifies the cited forms as AVqp1cs, AVqi3ms, AVqp2ms, and AVqrmsa.
Dialect boundary
Biblical Aramaic of Daniel and Ezra. Later Targumic, Jewish Babylonian, and Zoharic forms are not imported into this lesson.
Practice
Group the four forms by root, then state the verbal form of each. What changes visibly between the two forms of each root?
Answer key
הוה: הֲוֵית perfect 1cs; לֶהֱוֵא imperfect 3ms. יהב: יְהַבְתְּ perfect 2ms; יָהֵב active participle ms. Prefixes, suffixes, and internal vowels change; the weak radical is not equally visible in every form.
Source notes
Only source-attested cells are taught. No hypothetical forms are displayed as quotations.
