WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT

Existence, need, ability

A sugya repeatedly asks whether something exists, is possible, is required, or can be done. אית/לית create existence and possession-like statements; בעי changes between wanting, needing, and asking according to construction; מצי expresses ability. The course keeps Hebrew-layer words such as צריך or אפשר tagged separately when they occur on the same Bavli page so language boundaries remain visible.

צריך “needs” and אפשר “possible” may appear in Hebrew/rabbinic layers and must be tagged as such rather than called JBA merely because they occur on a Bavli page.
