WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT

Targumic pronouns

The earlier placeholder mixed forms that still required dialect verification. This card now limits itself to forms visibly attested in the selected Onkelos Genesis edition: אֲנָא, הוּא, הִיא, אִנּוּן, דֵּין, and אִלֵּין. A second-person form is not added merely to complete a chart; it belongs only after an exact occurrence is selected.

APPROVED STUDY LAYERS

Source-specific guidance from the curriculum.

Learning objective

Identify only pronoun and demonstrative forms directly attested in the selected Onkelos Genesis witness.

Dialect and grammar

Targumic Aramaic in the Yemenite Taj-vocalized Onkelos witness. The exact source clauses establish form and discourse function; no Western or JBA form is imported.

Practice

Classify the six forms by pronoun/demonstrative and by person, gender, and number where applicable. Which expected chart cell is intentionally absent?

Answer key

אֲנָא 1cs pronoun; הוּא 3ms; הִיא 3fs; אִנּוּן 3mp; דֵּין demonstrative ms; אִלֵּין demonstrative plural. A second-person independent pronoun is intentionally absent because this release does not supply an unverified token merely to complete the paradigm.

REMEMBER

A partial attested paradigm is more trustworthy than a completed generic-Aramaic chart.
