WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT

The Mishnah asks a question immediately

This is the opening of Mishnah Berakhot. The text begins with מֵאֵימָתַי, “from when?”, asking for the starting time of the evening Shema. קוֹרִין comes from קרא, “read/recite,” and in this Rabbinic Hebrew sentence functions naturally as “we/people recite.” אֶת marks שמע as the object, and בערבית locates the practice in the evening. The printed Mishnah normally appears without these pedagogical vowels; the course can show the pointed aid, then remove it.
